Did he disconnect after supporting you for at least for a second? If not, then this sure is a bug. My support had this problem about 2 times within few months, I do remember I went offline once but not sure the other time.

Hello!
If the person that is supporting your convoy goes offline and is offline at the moment of your loss in the plunder (when they would be called into battle during the plunder), then their convoy support becomes invalid and they will not be called in as support. The supporting group member must be online at this exact moment to assist you!
