Pay atention to the modes that allow you to do 1x, there are Story modes and similars, so, the idea is to watch them :P

Ya. Sometimes in Arena fight until final round and no one win. maybe around 5+ min.

I dont think 2x speed for all modes make any sense what so ever. Currently the modes that only is 1x speed is pvp. In arena, SWB etc.... u might want 2x speed, but ur opponent might not.
