Skillbreakthrough review are back in this fourth installment. Today, we'll be starting off strong with Asuma's skillbooks.

Asuma's orginal kit is a classic example of a ninja getting stronger and more deadly as the fight progresses. Later on, Asuma gets replaced by his 'Wind Blade' variant. Let's see if the orignal model can find his place in the new meta to come.

Mystery: Flying Swallow : Causes Wind attribute damage to a selected unit and will also cause the unit to suffer from Knockdown. When your Chakra is higher than 70, this skill will not consume Chakra and will have no Cooling Time.Battlefield Entrance Cooldown: 1 round Cooldown: 3 roundsChakra Consumption: 20Mystery +1: Flying Swallow +1: Causes Wind attribute damage to a selected unit and will also cause the unit to suffer from Knockdown. When your Chakra is higher than 50, this skill will not consume Chakra and will have no Cooling Time.Mystery +2: Flying Swallow +2 : Causes Wind attribute damage to a selected unit and will also cause the unit to suffer from Knockdown. When your Chakra is higher than 30, this skill will not consume Chakra and will have no Cooling Time.No changes in Chakra Consumption or Cooldown

Asuma's mystery gets the added bonus of getting no cooldown earlier on in a fight. The First upgrade will allow him to use Flying Swallow freely after turn 3. The +2 upgrade allows free use of his mystery the very moment you hit turn 2. If you use this ability first, you can spend the rest of your chakra without fear of cooldown and cost. Lightning blitz teams beware, Asuma has your number.

GRADE: A+

Standard: Taijutsu Attack: Attacks the opponent’s front row and has a chance of Triple Combo and Repulse. Standard +1: Taijutsu Attack +1: Attacks the opponent’s front row and has a chance of Triple Combo, Repulse, and reducing the mystery cooldown by 1 round

Lets say that your oponent gets a drain off as you use Flying Swallow. Game over, right? No! Asuma's standard upgrade will allow him to recover his cooldown faster and get back to using his beat*s. This is a fantastic recovery addition to his kit.

GRADE: B+

Passive 1: Courage: At the beginning of a battle, increase 20 Chakra points for your own team.Passive 1 +1: Courage +1: At the beginning of a battle, increase 30 Chakra points for your own team.Passive 1 +2: Courage +2: At the beginning of a battle, increase 40 Chakra points for your own team.

If your team needs more chakra for turn one mysteries and you don't want to waste a slot on a non-dps support, look no futher than this upgrade. Do you like the idea T1 Tendo nukes with the addition of DPS in the rounds afterwards? Asuma is your guy. If you aren't interested in this build or your team is late game heavy, skip this as this passive only works for the first turn.

GRADE: A

Passive 2: Fire Style - Burning Ash: Chases and Attacks a Repulsed unit to cause Knockdown and Blindness.Passive 2 +1: Fire Style - Burning Ash +1: Chases and Attacks a Repulsed unit to cause Knockdown, Blindness, and Ignition

This chase upgrade is alright. While not essential, the extra ignition in addition to the original blidness is a welcome addition to Asuma's kit.

GRADE: C+

Passive 3: Chakra Blade: When you have a minimum of 20 Chakra points, for each Chakra point over the 20 Chakra points you have, this unit will increase its Ninjutsu and Combo Rate by 1%.Passive 3 +1: Chakra Blade +1: When you have a minimum of 10 Chakra points, for each Chakra point over the 10 Chakra points you have, this unit will increase its Ninjutsu and Combo Rate by 1%.Passive 3 +2: Chakra Blade +2: For each Chakra point you have, this unit will increase its Ninjutsu and Combo Rate by 1%.

When I saw this ability I originally said: "Meh, 10% isn't that huge." I had made the mistake of thinking that every 10 points counted as a 1% bonus. I reread the ability discription and immediately crapped my pants. This passive upgrade puts Asuma on par with his Wind Blade version in terms of scaling.

GRADE: A+

PREDICTIONS:
Have your Izanagi and de-spells ready because an upgraded Asuma walks onto the field of battle with a "KILL ME NOW!!!" sign glued to his forehead. He will become a threat to the point in which I think enemy teams will start fielding hard counters. He should find a place in wind and fire buffing teams. Lightning teams beware, this guy is going to tear you to pieces if you don't drop him quickly. Asuma's main weakness is that he isn't that tough and doesn't have much defence against crowd control. Asuma will make his way back into high level ranked builds.

OVERALL GRADE: A+

What do you think? Are you planning on saving up for him?
