WARNING LONG POST AHEAD.

THIS THREAD SERVE THE PURPOSE TO EXPLAIN TO ALL NEW F2P GAMES PLAYERS.

Hello, i've been playing Naruto Online for 5 months and have been an avid gamer since i am 12 and now i am 28 so it has been 16 years of experience in gaming. My forte would be in RPG, MMORPG, SandBox, WebGames both as Whales/Superfan and sometimes as F2P. When i decided to embark on Naruto Online the first reason is because, it has been been the manga/anime that i've grew fond with and which i grew up together with for the past years.

I started to go into forums to look for some tips and strategy just recently like 1 month ago to fill in my free time not that i have many challenges in game that i can't overcome but to have a look at how the community are doings, their style, new strategy and etc. But what i actually found amazes me.
The toxicity of the community, the negativity and the perspective of the players are so "amazing" compared to other games i've played before and this really give me the shocked, given i've been playing for almost 5 month without any "game breaking" issues.

So here is the deal, regardless of my rank in game or my power i don't think it matters BUT what i am going to write about by any means if they are good and you agree with it please use it as your guideline or maybe just few things that you WILL think about.

Naruto Online is one of the F2P games where ALL players are allowed to PLAY the games and utilize ANY functions available in game without paying a SINGLE cent just like other F2P webgames offered in the Market. Every F2P games despite being called F2P requires money and manpower to run, they don't run by themselves so there are actually 3 parties involved.
1. F2P players, players that doesn't spend a single cent but crucial in supporting the community and improving the game.
2. P2P players, further breakdown can be either mild spender or superfans/whales. This is the only source of money for this kind of games hence events are being introduced to allow the BUSINESS to make money to pay their staff, keeps the game running and make PROFITS.
3. The Company, their main reason in making this game is to make MONEY/PROFITS, different company uses different models depending on their market, culture and strategies.

Different player play their games in many different ways, some love to spend their cash get POWERED up SUPER FAST because for them this is FUN to do. While some, spend their TIME and EFFORT and COMMITMENT knowing they CAN BE ON TOP but the main reason is because it is FUN for them. There are also players who just ENJOY to be with FRIENDS, ENJOY the narrative part of the GAME and again because it is FUN. What are the similarities of all 3 group of players? They PLAY because it is FUN.

So here is the thing, where does the FUN comes from, when we ALL first start the game the first thing that catches ALL of us are the CORE of the game. We ENJOYED the strategy, the mechanics, unlocking new ninjas, the story, the group and friends that we gained remember, the very FIRST THING that catches us ALL are the CORE of the game which we do DAY IN, DAY OUT repeatedly that we didn't realize how time flies.

Then the EVENTS are being introduced to us as we progress. This is the ONLY source of income for the BUSINESS to keep our beloved game running and by all means to allow EVERYONE, and EVERY group of players to have FUN. EVENTS are additional things, are they the CORE of the game? NO, when we are being *ed by this game it wasn't because of the EVENTS but because of the CORE of the games. Hence there are weeks with BAD EVENTS, weeks with SO-SO EVENTS and weeks with GOOD EVENTS. There are weeks with EVENTS made to reap PROFIT from SUPERFANS/WHALES/MINNOWS/MILD SPENDERS and there are weeks with events for F2P Players.

THUS there shoudln't be anyone to BLAME, if EVENTS are BAD for you it might be GOOD for some other party and YES this include the COMPANY. On top of that ALL PLAYERS are given the opportunity to CHOOSE, THE COMPANY never FORCE you in any of the EVENTS this applies to F2P Players as well, all those hard earned COUPONS plan your spending, aim the events that you want and take opportunity when it comes. The TOXICITY will not just harms the COMPANY, it affects the P2P/SUPERFANS/WHALES/MILD SPENDERS/NEW PLAYERS/F2P/POTENTIAL SPENDERS. Without the COMPANY, nobody is there to establish the game, Without the P2P/WHALES/Mild Spender/Potential Spender there won't be any reason for the COMPANY to run the game and without the F2P there won't be enough people to RUN the CORE of the game to make it enjoyable. But the main reason i am highlighting this is that, until today THERE ISN'T ANY EVENTS made that breaks the CORE of the game. ALL of us are still able to ENJOY the game and have FUN. So please, everyone play your roles if you love the game. You might be losing to some other PLAYERS today, but AS LONG AS IT IS FUN keep on going knowing one day you will be able to surpass them.

To the MODS and THE COMPANY, you are responsible to ensure the CORE of the game is running smoothly. You have to have ideas, creativity to retent your players because after doing it for so many months, if there isn't any changes or functions being introduced ALL your players will start to feel bored, there is no more FUN and they might leave the game for good, To acquire a player has already took a lot of costs and to just let it go is not a very smart thing to do. What i am trying to say is you need to start thinking & planning ahead of time. PLANS for next 3 month are READY even better if these are SHARED to your players so they know something is underway and keep their focus towards the game there might be some DELAY/HICCUPS/CHANGES in the middle BUT IT IS OK. There isn't anything that is PERFECT in the gaming industry especially Web Games.

With this, i end my PART 1 of sharing more to come later specifically touching on PLAYER ROLES in F2P games.

This is the root problem with Asian games being introduced to Europen market.

another expert in the game huh?. the events are rotating weekly to give players something new so stop complaining. for new contents it is already with them, in a business you don't just throw all your cards at once and expect the highest profit possible, imagine if they are only 2 treasures right now seal treasure and kage treasures, would anyone bother the seal treasure when the kage give the most better ninjas? obviously not, thats why from the start they only made seal treasure the only available one for the mean time, to maximize profit from it before releasing the next treasure, this concept is the same in releasing ingame contents, if they release every content now every the game will die in a couple of months instead of it lasting for years simply because the players will enjoy every bit of that content so fast that after that they can't expect anymore content because they enjoyed everything the game has to offer already. as for telling their plans for contents/events release the year that is a bad move too, take the the eight gates for example, before that content was released some cashers are not aware of that content while some cash players from china do, when the event was released those cashers who don't know about it are caught off guard and they don't have a lot of coins for it, knowing this thing the company will then put more sources of coins in game purchasable with ingots thus resulting to profit. if they tell these cashers in advance about this content this potention income from this customers will never be gained because they will be saving their coins for the upcoming event instead of getting off guard and forced to gain coins by ingots. this applies to other events too, if you know the hyped ninja right now that cost 1k$ but know the ninja will be available again in about a month or two would you still buy it at 1k$? no you won't but if it is available now for 1k$ and there is no certainty on when it will be released again in a cheaper price then you will be forced to buy it now instead of getting yourself delayed waiting for a cheaper one knowing that it can be in a month or even a year before the cheaper one comes available. in a sense, you don't just throw all your cards in a business and expect the most profit possible thats the dumbess thing to do.

Pretty good insights and i agree with you at the most part. But i would like to add my insight aswell, there's some player who stay to play because they got to take care of the game that he / she invested in such as money, Time, Effort and of course the 'patience'. Take an Example such as a group Leader and Seniors that have responsibility to take care of the group. Some will just simply pass it to others when they felt wanting to quit the game, But there are also a player that whom is building a community of its own through this game and can't simply let go of the game that easily even the game starting to become bored to him / herself.

From my experience of 8 months playing this game, That being top player in the server itself is pretty satisfying but at the same time it makes the game become more boring because there is no challenge.. there's nothing to *e up the gaming experience unless there's merging. But lets say that merging is alreading happening in the server and the same problem goes on and on, The solution is to merge again? that takes time.

Im lucky to be in the server where the top 10 players is all competitive. but can you imagine stuck in a server that got lets say about 20-30k power difference between the rank 1 and rank 2 player ? it's awful. Sometimes in a server if there is no rival, the top player will usually will feel bored, at least it is for me. Also at the same time it will discourage most of the weaker player in term of morale, Because they felt that the top player is too much for them to handle and usually ending up migrating to new servers.

As we all know that the in-game events is always getting a complaint. There's so much reason why we as a player become upset such as because we dont get what we want. Some also feel upset because the game devs is not listening to their players. Some others might feel upset because the game management is not good. And the list continues.. Yet there are players that do not care anything at all. Personally from the start im playing this game, i already know that this game is designed for paying to enjoy all its contents and features to the fullest. Im just saying that players should know what they complaints before they start mocking the game mods / dev (which i have seen very much in almost every updated event threads)

For me the real joy to play this game is to experiencing a virtual worlds where you starts from zero and meeting new people you barely know and ending up becoming best bros. I love this game and i love the community in it.

Agreed on that last part. One of the main reasons I still play is because of the community and the people I've met here.

(And because I'm hopelessly waiting for them to add team Dosu as playable, but that's off-topic.)

You sound like someone who is just salty over various things. Probably 1) You were one of the people who bought something and then saw it come out at 70% of the original price a week later. 2) You probably are a low end spender who feels like he should be #1 just because he keeps up with China.

There is absolutely no drawback to telling the community what you have planned and what they can expect to see. Whether a ninja is $1000 now or $600 a month or two later won't matter to the top 5%. Perhaps a few people considering it at the start who aren't super spenders may wait but that means a minimal loss. Those at the top buy it regardless, those who don't spend or can't afford it just avoid it entirely until it is much lower. However, those who are on the fence will look and see "Hey, if I just don't buy it now I can wait and get X+Y+Z for the $1000 when it comes back next rotation instead!" or "I can save $400+ dollars since I got a few frags already and waited." In this way they are still able to gain some money from the ninja but keep losses low because players are informed. If they don't tell people then the result is often different.

Most people who are able to pay for in game stuff set a budget, you know typical adult stuff. With the way the game is now you can either take this budget and spend, say, $20 a week or you can blindly save up and hope for a decent event to your liking. However, if we are told of that months events then more people will be likely to spend, even those who never have before, because they can budget better. A lot of people don't spend because they don't like going in blind with the "luck" based systems in the game. If they at least have a little knowledge they won't feel completely cheated out of their 5-10 bucks if things don't go absolute best case scenario.

Plus this would go beyond the realm of just events. Informing us of future content, updates and fixes before they are happening or an issue is a standard among all games. We deserve a right to know what our time and money is going towards and should have a say in what is more important. One of the biggest issues with the player-company relationship so far has been this closed door of severe secrecy they have. Yes it is nice to have some surprises along the way but to be left completely in the dark until just a day or two before a major change is a terrible business model.

Here's my thought.

MORE EVENTS FOR F2P.

Or even better, MAKE CROSS PVP EVENTS THAT DEPENDS ON POWER CAPS.

80% of people started the game have quit after a week. Money ruins all the fun, f2p players feel FRUSTRATED, spenders got BORED cause no challenges. Merging happens, new servers open and the cycle continues.

"ALL of us are still able to ENJOY the game and have FUN."

I just want to point out this, MOST OF US ARE NOT ABLE TO ENJOY THE GAME AND HAVE FUN, not because power dif, or lack of f2p events or nothing like that, just because most server does not have enough ppl to play and have fun with.

If your argument has nothing to do with power diff, lack of f2p events and nothing like that (whatever nothing like that might mean) but due to lack of players. Then join an earlier server then, still loads of activity and will give you the "fun" to your definition, since it satisfies your "not enough ppl to play and have fun with" criteria.

Yeah, all Oasis cares about is money and the result of that is the game is dying. They don't give a * about f2p or whatever. As long as their wallet is filling, that is all that matters!!!! It's disgusting how the forum and in game chat are so salty all the time. I totally agree with what are you saying. They don't listen to the players of the game and just do whatever they want. When they tell you that they do listen to feedbacks from players, is really BS and they don't actually do it!! Game is so balance alright???

its not the most active game ever.. take the polls a minimum of 2000 people need to vote for it to mean something.. there are soon 500 servers and it almost didnt have enough votes.. throwing up new facebook "events" where u have to be active to win with comments, sharing, tagging friends etc to keep spreading the game for em.. where no real winners are actually announced (like they promise) ive only seen a maximum of 200 people participating, and on all other announcements there are like 10 comments all about, why arent u helping me, fix the game, fix my server, respond to me please etc, and when i check the forum every other day 50 new posts, not topics but posts. from at least 2000 players.. the game community beyond each server, is kindda dead if u ask me..:(

Yes. I'm in such a server It doesn't leave much room for interesting/different patterns/outcomes. Really hoping for another server merge.

First of all, devs don't or don't care to read the forums themselves. Secondly, it will be just reported as "They complained at first but now everything is good!"

So I really hope they read this one after all the * hit the fan.

hahaha then should i be changing from server to server every month?? because that is what it takes for a new server to die.

But that's against your argument. Your argument was not enough players around to have fun. So how does jumping server solve that fun? If it does, just do it.

But like I mentioned earlier, for the not enough players aspect of it, join an older server, the player bases are alot stronger. Though personally, I think it won't be fun if you're lagging so far behind. But that's not part of your concern.
