I guess it is to give thanks to members who contributed much to the group to get the rankings. It is not rubbish, it is a common thing for Group-participation events not only in this game but for others also. Thank you.

Lol, you do get a reward though. The entire group gets a reward based on their rank i believe, which is more than enough. It is better to have that than taint a F2P event with something akin to Ino Flowers in a group competition.
