When you are slept you can't do anything. When you are struck by Tai or ninjitsu damage you are woken up.

and are able to act again.

  • Ninjutsu damage does NOT wake up a sleeping character, so you can put a character with a Ninjutsu-only type standard attack in front of or behind a Fire main.
