So I'm having a problem with this. I go to add Sage Naruto's assist link Card to my Main Character but I keep getting the error message: "Different Assist links forms of the same Character cannot be simultaneously used." but I haven't assigned anyone yet. My slots are empty so what am I doing wrong?

Is your regular naruto assigned to someone other than main character? It may be that only one naruto c*ed total across all characters assist links. If not than I have no idea

nope, I haven't assigned ANYONE. No one is selected, not even reg Naruto. But it acts like he is and I can't fix it.

But if you go through them, you can clearly see Hinata has 2 bonds and only needs one. same with anbu itachi...so who are those bonds?

Also pretty sure base orochimaru also has that barrier move.
