You could also consider Kimimaro, with good healer behind him... (tho his Mystery costs 60)
I'd honestly suggest you drop the idea of Ino-Shika team tho... but yeah... if you'll like it, use it. Not everyone has to be power player, one of my alts I play Water Main with Suigetsu and Zabuza on my team, I lose a lot lel

Chouji is OK for Survival Trial teams (the first ones you use to clear first stages and expect to lose them around stage 7 or 8, maybe 9), because he can heal himself, you pair him with Guy, it's... OK.
Once you have a ninja that gives shield to everyone else on team, Chouji is obsolete.
The biggest worth Chouji has is actually his attacking, he attacks whole row of enemies, so he's good for clearing clones. But that's too situational to be worth it imo.

Well choji attacks front row but I found it quite squishy i would prefer hinata as she can evade using her mystery skill and I think hinata is tankier than choji.

its just my opinion though

For me, choji is more a utility ninja than a tanker, sure he heals himself each run and attack all front row enemy ninja ... but he cant take too much hit and his resistance to ninjutsu is quite , not to tank standard.

Still, if you pair him with a decent healer he can take your team in survival trial quit far. Imagine, a single ninja attacking all the front row enemy ...

Choji is only good when paired with Guy. If you are not pairing him with Guy than he is not worth using imo.

Choji works with Guy because Guy has a p@ssive that makes you heal for the amount of damage you do everytime you do Taijutsu damage. So when teamed up with Guy, Choji will heal every time he attacks even with combos, and with his basic attack the heal is actually pretty good because he attacks a entire row, which is especially useful against clones.
