Welcome back to this ongoing series of review on skillbreakthroughs.

Today, we'll be taking a look at Yamato. Yamato is a decent charater and is used mostly on Earth teams. His woodstyle chakra allows him to self heal as chakra gets regenerated by your team. In addition to this, his barrier boosts earth which allows him to make an AOE Wood element attack and a passive damage bonus against 'Large monsters'. Dispite looking good on paper, Yamato tends to get dumped the moment a player pulls out Hashirama.

Do Yamato's skillbooks show promise?
Let's dive in!

YamatoMystery: Wood Style - Deep Forest Emergence: Launches a Barrier, increase Attack and Ninjutsu by 40% for the Earth attribute units in your Lineup. Before the first action in each round, when attacking your opponent’s team, it will launch Wood Style - Beam and affect a maximum of 3 units.Battlefield Entrance Cooldown: 0 round Cooldown: 3 roundsChakra Consumption: 20Mystery +1: Wood Style - Deep Forest Emergence +1 : Launches a Barrier, increase Attack and Ninjutsu by 40% for the Earth attribute units in your Lineup. Before the first action in each round, when attacking your opponent’s team, it will launch Wood Style - Beam and affect a maximum of 3 units.Mystery +2: Wood Style - Deep Forest Emergence +2 : Launches a Barrier, increase Attack and Ninjutsu by 40% for the Earth and Water attribute units in your Lineup. Before the first action in each round, when attacking your opponent’s team, it will launch Wood Style - Beam and affect a maximum of 3 units. No changes in Chakra Consumption or Cooldown

One thing that disapoints Yamato users is that he wastes a full attack action getting his barrier up. Say goodbye to that with his +1 as it adds . His +2 adds a welcome barrier bonus to water, which allow him to find a new niche aside from earth. If you just want the prompt, you can skip the +2.

GRADE: B

Standard: Taijutsu Attack: Attacks the opponent’s front row and has a chance of Triple Combo and Low Float. Passive 1: Wood Style - Beam: Chases and Attacks a High Floated unit to cause Repulse.Passive 1 +1: Wood Style - Beam +1: Chases and Attacks a High Floated unit to cause Repulse. Can be triggered twice per round.

Extra combo. Eh, that's alright.

GRADE: C

Passive 2: Hokage Style Elder Jutsu - Tenth Edict On Enlightenment: Significantly increases the damage caused to Summons or Huge Monsters by 100% by Yamato (Tailed Beasts and Summons both fall into the category of Huge Monsters)Passive 2 +1: Hokage Style Elder Jutsu - Tenth Edict On Enlightenment +1: As long as Yamato remains on the field, increase the damage dealt to Summons or Huge Monsters by 50% for the whole team. (Tailed Beasts and Summons both fall into the category of Huge Monsters)

The only passive that Yamato gets a skillbook and BOY it is a doozy. Yamato gives up 50% of his personal bonus to pass on a 50% damage buff to his team. This makes Yamato a sure winner for Earth 9t/summon teams.

GRADE: A+

PREDICTIONS:

Yamato fails to peek into the competitive pvp meta beyond mid-tier. He will remain a mainstay in Mid-power Earth teams and may find a spot with some water doctrines. Yamato's Passive 2 will make Yamato a BEAST in Huge Monster fights. I see Yamato in nearly every FTP Earth/Water 9T/Summon team for the forseeable future. He find a niche but wont see wide competitive play, IMHO.

OVERALL GRADE: C+ (A+ for Huge Monster teams)

What do you think? Are you planning on saving up for him?

Special thanks to OppaiPaizuri for making this skillbreakthrough google doc.

  • Seeing as your link to the portal is broken Hatsu and some were wondering:

http://forum.naruto.oasgames.com/en/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=21356&highlight=portal to visit Hatsu's collection of SB opinions.
Thank you. I'll fix that up. I just realised what I did wrong.
