Wouldn't this result in ending your try prematurely and effectively losing damage?

Pretty sure the leaving early aspect only applies to active guilds and the large amount of players during snake summon.

Retreating once after round 4 and going back gives you way more damage.

Well ye if you have a really active/strong group this won't work :D But with most groups you can easily go 8 rounds which means you can retreat once.

I don't understand how.

Let's say I was about to do 3 full 10 round attempts, how is retreating after round 4 beneficial to me?
You keep saying that it won't work in active groups and I think it's the exact opposite.

What he's saying only applies to very big and active groups because they're able to kill the snake within a reasonable amount of time, so it's better to do 4 rounds and retreat then keep on going - that way, you'll get more damage in.

But for small groups, this doesn't really work because killing the snake wouldn't be a possibility and everyone would be able to go the full 10 rounds before the event even ends.

Err, actually it doesnt really apply to "large and active" groups that well. Our snake dies in under 2 minutes, so there isnt even time to retreat :P

The main issue there is that if you are in an active group like mine if you stay there for the full 10 rounds the snake is just dead of very close to be. So the point is if is better to do 3-4 rounds, retreat, and go there doing another 3-4 rounds or not. In my experience you land more damage if you do 4 rounds, retreat and another 3-4 rounds than doing 10 straight. If, instead, you group is not much active or if your average level is low, then is better to do as many rounds as possible.
