So in this battle I believe my onoki went 4 for 12 or 5 for 13 on his standard attacks which either way is not "low chance" of fail rate

For one, "low" is rather relative, it's rather subjective on what value "low" is. But given the usual term of "low chance", "(normal) chance" and "high chance", it's fair enough to say that anything on the lower 1/3 is "low chance". 4/12 is in fact 1/3 and 5/13 only slightly above..

Secondly, there exist a low chance that a low chance event happens frequently.
For example, statistically speaking, there is a 0.65% chance that a 10% event will occur 5 or more times out of 13. And I'm sure even you would agree that 10% would been properly labeled low chance.
So really, small sample size never says anything conclusive. You really have to gather a sample of at least 100 attacks to really tell if it is, in fact, low chance (or rather, what the likely chance is, as "low chance" is subjective)

I interpreted what he meant as his onoki only hitting 4 of his 12 standard attacks, making that 1/3 his probability of hitting his target, and 2/3 his backache triggering. There is the video below the post, didn't count the hits but it doesn't seem like the standards were hitting very often.

Well, there is a 0.95% chance to only hit 4 or less times out of 12 if the failure rate is 30%.

So even if it was on that extreme end, it doesn't prove anything. My point stands that it takes at least 100 attack to prove anything.

I don't watch videos posted on this forum much due to.... reasons...

Can't prove you wrong, but if only 4 of the 12 hits connected, it would most likely suggest the failure rate is higher. Maybe he is getting older after all.

Onoki uses his backache animation when someones dodges/block his standard attack.

As u can see in the video, Onoki NEVER hits his first standard attack, and you never see Konan's passive animation (Paper Clone)*.
Thats because konan dodges Onoki's attack with her passive every round, but they put onoki's fail attack animation and no animation of Konan dodge.

no idea why they did it that way, makes it so confusing

*: Paper Clone: High chance of evading the first Standard attack received each round

Games in general need the terms "low chance" or any "chance" to be defined. His tool tip should read something like has 20% or whatever the actual number is chance of failing. More transparency is needed to ensure something is working correctly. When I played MAA(marvel avengers alliance) their tool tips evolved to that standard and players would have a better understanding of the risk of using a certain character. Such vagueness in terms could be the reason Onoki is on the under used list of ninjas. Which is understandable since most serious players look at the wording "low chance" and say pfft moving on.

It definitely is part of what makes Onoki *. I tried using him but it was legit one of the worst experiences ever. Not having any additional effect on his barrier and chase already puts him lower than other ninjas of the same treasure. Even if he buffs tri-element the pro doesn't outweigh the cons.

Backaches do seem to occur way too often. I never hit more than half of my standards with Onoki. Even if you throw out all that theoretical math there is no way you can warrant a ninja hitting less than even 2/3 of his standards a "low chance" failure. Then to top it off his interrupt is on the standard, rather than the chase. Losing standards to his backache *s cause its lots dps and combo potential but as far as control it basically makes no difference. So few ninjas without prompt skills are front line to be interrupted. So even if the standard does go it won't really do a ton. On the flip side if you put it on his chase then at least he can be a reliable interrupt for one or two rounds if your first slots can set it up. The last straw is just the fact that the double standard passive, although noted as random, can be applied to clones, even ones that don't have an attack. That as a whole is just rather idiotic too and one major downside to all earth ninjas with the passive. Tacking it onto Onoki though just makes him a failure of a ninja all the way around honestly. His mystery stopping revives hardly makes up for all the * tier components he has going otherwise.
