Depending on the upgrade, it could go for a day or two. Updates like you mentioned are not on that a bigger scale. And yeah its just event update for this game, it shouldn't take more than 30min(pull plus a small test) if they have already done the testing on their staging/test server. I am guessing that testing is not being done and they use the production server directly. Who knows. But everytime a new event comes, they take a lot of time. Its just like you said, bad practices.

He meant that inside those 99%, there are 50% which are X and 40% which are Y. Still missing 9% though. Those 9% must be you, that complain about everything, with everyone ;P

@JirayaEro yeah it is free stuff but it is so boring that a lot of the time its better to not claim it and do something else instead.

The game is up? The game is always up for my server, because it never went down for maintenance in the first place.

For a big company like OG that caters like 500k players (like they claimed), a downtime of 5 hours will cost them more than a test server with staging server. Also, a good blade server that runs VM multiple instance can do this kind of job, surely they have this in their office. If they do not need the staging, they can just switch it off no problemo and not use the resources.

as i understand it they use server 17 and 26 as test servers for the patches (i would never do that if it was my call, because of exactly whats happening now), i do agree that it can be done a lot better but i was mainly talking about people who know nothing about running a webservice and doing the maintenance of it

and it is also true that you can never plan ahead for everything if you make your testrun(s17/s26) a few hours before the actual patching process(all other servers)

i know it's up but there are no events because maintenance hasn't started yet , it will start when we will try to do plunder , i know u aren't wrong when u said those statistics and i can't believe ppl don't understand what u meant but the statistics are clearly wrong. i can tell you 95% of ppl don't ever go to the forums to vent what you are seeing is a vocal minority also when you mention that 50% have no job did you know that most of the players are still in school? majority of the playerbase isn't even 18 so of course they dont have jobs. you pulled your statistics out of thin air but that isn't the problem here .
I'm not against them having a delay right now , we don't know their practices or how they handle their server , we don't know how many workers they have and so on. However when they can't do some stuff it's ok to hire more people to help them with their job or find volunteers i'm sure enough people love the game enough to go out of their way to help the developers ( not with programming because its risky for ppl who have no experience ) in any possible way ( we know ppl already spend thousands of $ on the game because they love it , but mods believe 1k $ is nothing affirmed in a recent post by daiske).
They make enough money that the critisim from a vocal minority isn't fazing them . What i don't like is that some people praise them for mistakes which is unreasonable and is just asking for getting bad threatment in the future because they know u don't mind it

one thing i will say, devs nor mods earn the money from the game, its the owner(whoever that is). situation of devs for these companies are terrible. a % of the profit MAy be given to them if they are lucky. else they usually get a fixed salary. the moment one starts appreciating their employees , thats when you get a better experience.

there is no point for members bashing anyone here, its just not going to work. from what i have seen mods are doing their job fine. they let us know what is being told to them. They dont make up lies for fun. community mods experience here is so much better compared to many other forums. one just have to realize everyone's roles. just dont take the game to heart is what i would say to all. play and have fun. cheers
