Sasuke walked home, groceries in hand. He felt it best to keep himself busy so that he could stop his mind from wandering on past memories. He was another year older today and he can't dwell on the past. Besides, his refrigerator was beginning to look empty and he'd die before he started living on instant ramen like Naruto. Two birds with one stone, right?

But, alas, on his homeward-bound stroll, he started to think. Little memories of his family popped up in his head. He shoved them aside. Every year was the same. He'd start keeping himself busy to keep his mind off of times long past, but by the end of the day, he'd be alone with those pathetic thoughts that made him wish he still had his family.

But not this year. Freshly 13-years old, he decided that he's going to act his age and not give in to those childish thoughts. They'd just hold him back, anyways.

Upon finally reaching his home he unlocked the door and stepped inside. He flicked the light on and, turning his back on his small living area, began putting his groceries away. Not a millisecond after he finished, he heard figures jump out from behind him. He spun on his heels, ready to attack whatever threat came at him.

Sasuke's eyes widened in surprise. Naruto practically jumped over his furniture in the excitement of it all. Sakura held out an opened box with what appeared to be a home-baked birthday cake inside. Kakashi, designated gift holder and no doubt the mastermind of their plan, put an arm up in greeting. All three of them beamed at Sasuke as they wished him a happy birthday.

After calming down, Sasuke took the image in front of him all in. And as he did so, a little voice in the back of his head spoke.

"It may not be the same, but your family is still here."
